playing through all the fe games

(part of the reason i'm posting a bunch today is for testing purposes, but it's also to kinda bring over old cohost posts).

so i’ve played quite a few fire emblem games in my time. i’m not sure why it draws me in so much when i’m not exactly the smartest with strategic games, but here we are anyway. back in 2023 (and even this year) i felt the desire to play through a bunch of fe games, ones that i’ve never finished, and others just to revisit for fun. i still want to keep track of all the mainline games i’ve played through and perhaps i will play more of them in the future.

1. Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light
❌ played a bit, haven't seen playthrough
i played a bit of the game on my switch but i feel like i'm too accustomed to all the QoL changes made to the series for me to properly enjoy the game? so i might give this a miss to go for shadow dragon instead

2. Gaiden
❌ not played but seen playthrough
still have no plans to play this since echoes exists

3. Mystery of the Emblem
❌ not played or seen playthrough
still have no plans to play this since fe12 exists

4. Genealogy of the Holy War
❌ played a bit, seen playthrough
i've played a tinyyy bit of this and it intimidates me since there's a lot to learn from it. so i ended up watching streams of this (and thracia) and they had some really neat ideas! the story and characters were very interesting too! i'd really like to see a remake of this someday

5. Thracia 776

thracia... seems incredibly intense from the streams i've watched...

6. Binding Blade

i actually finished the game this year! roy's our boy, but geeez the game was rough. probably won't revisit it again even for the alternative path...

7. The Blazing Blade

still my personal favourite fe game

8. The Sacred Stones

i was crazy for playing through both routes in a single playthrough last year, i still enjoy this game a bunch too

9. Path of Radiance

this game was great

10. Radiant Dawn
❌ played a bit, seen playthrough
last year i only played through a few chapters, so i do want to attempt a new run again

11. Shadow Dragon
❌ played a bit, seen playthrough
i've attempted to play through shadow dragon this year, think i only got to chapter... 10? before dropping it again. one day i'll finish it, hopefully

12. New Mystery of the Emblem
✔️ have played
still finding it tempting to revisit this game as well, if i end up going through shadow dragon

13. Awakening
✔️ have played
i ended up replaying this game out of the blue alongside binding blade. was fun to go through it again even through i was speeding through

14. Fates
✔️ have played
finally finished revelation last year, so i feel good with this game for now

15. Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
✔️ have played
currently not feeling the need to revisit this game

16. Three Houses
✔️ have played (aside from finishing the route - silver snow)
not sure whether i'll play this game again just get go through silver snow, but who knows what the future holds

17. Engage
✔️ have played
another game that i played and finished last year, so i'm good. there is the dlc i've yet to play so maybe once i purchase it, i'll do a replay"
