whale whale whale...

i was fortunate enough to go whale watching for the first time with ocean extreme ➚. it's been something i've always pondered on doing but for some reason, never when through with it until now. my original booking was cancelled due to poor weather so i waited another month for this day to arrive, and luckily the weather was beautiful that day.
i was in a boat with 11 other passengers (and by coincidence it was all women, even our guide for the day). a part of me was a little worried if i would feel terrified going on such a fast boat (apparently the boat i was on - the orca, had a top speed of 49 knots, around 90km/h), but compared to the other whale watching options which had large ships of people, this felt like the right option for me. and was willing to push through my comfort zone for a chance to see the whales. to my surprise i ended up enjoying the boat ride a fair bit (other than one brief period where i thought i would be sick because we were out on the sea for a while watching the whales), the wind was quite intense though. even with sunglasses on, my eyes were getting teary and my nose was even running a bit haha.
i felt a bit envious of the other boats who got a closer look at the whales, apparently there was even a calf amongst the pod. but i feel i can't complain that much. this was still a new experience for me and despite the little set backs, it was a nice time being out in the sea. chances are i'll do this again someday, maybe try one of their other boats.

even though it was tricky to take decent photos/videos of the whales, i'm still glad i had the opportunity to see them irl.
