(used topsters β for the images)it's that time again. visited a bunch of different game series this time... finishing off ys, playing the layton prequels, some metal gear, and started trails which no doubt will keep going for some time. and within them all played a bunch of indie games too.
π€·οΈ = unfinished | π = really enjoyed | π = replay
- π€· CATO: Buttered Cat: the concept is cute, the game is cute, i'm very stupid at puzzle games and unfortunately i was not able to finish it. perhaps one day i'll return.
- Ys: Memories of Celceta: i've shared my ys thoughts in a separate post earlier in the year so i'll refer back to that. ys holds a special place in my heart for sure, never has a game series grabbed me so strongly and quickly and i'm grateful to have experienced it.
- Ys V: Lost Kefin, Kingdom of Sand: ^
- π Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana: ^
- Ys Seven: ^
- π Ys IX: Monstrum Nox: ^
- π Fitness Boxing Fist of The North Star: surprisingly fun! a rhythm game where i punch to catchy music works rather well. i did struggle to play consistently but i appreciate this game.
- Another Code: Recollection: glad i finally got around to plaything this game. the art style is delightful, albeit the gameplay can be slow at times.
- RHYTHM SPROUT: i enjoyed the gameplay for the most part, though some of the stages got quite brutal.
- KUUKIYOMI 3: Consider It More and More!! - Father to Son: more or less the same vibes as the past games, good silly fun.
- Soul of Sovereignty (chapter 2): i appreciate tutu a lot.
- π€· Cosmic Express: again, i'm typically bad at puzzle games... so i never really finished this either, but i appreciate the concept of the game.
- Professor Layton and the Spectre's Call: overall this game didn't leave a strong impression on me, but glad i finished it.
- π€· Fitness Circuit: played a bit of it. did not vibe with it lol. so i just stuck with fitness boxing instead.
- π Dreams of Aether: love experiencing warioware-like games and this delivered. also love the composer for this game.
- Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask: enjoyed this more than the spectre's call but again doesn't quite capture me as much compared to the original trilogy. or maybe i'm just too jaded with a lower attention span.
- Serre: this was alright, wasn't a huge stand out for me.
- Key Gunner: just a small game where you defeat enemies through typing the right letters. small but sweet.
- π€· Pikuniku: kinda cute, i remember the controls being a bit annoying sometimes. and couldn't quite finish the game.
- Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy: still find the reveals towards the ending to be wild. but hey got this trilogy done, finally.
- π Formless Star: absolutely delightful of a game, very chill walking around exploring and finding new creatures.
- Franken: same dev as formless star and i remember enjoying this too.
- Deltarune (chapters 1-4): finally got around to experiencing the new deltarune chapters and it was a time.
- π Date Everything: despite a lot of bugs i didn't think i'd sink so much time into this silly game. unsurprisingly the voice acting is excellent.
- π Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker: managed to set up my ps3 to stream so i got to replay this game on stream for others to experience too. i think this mgs game is still really fun to play.
- Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater: i will forever hate the fury fight, bad experiences. originally i was checking out the 3ds version for old times sake but kinda sucks being stuck on such a small screen & didn't realise how bad the frame rate was. wild that i was able to finish that game.
- this game will end in 205 clicks.: another ok game for me that wasn't a huge stand out personally.
- The Last Winter Knight (demo): i got pretty drawn into the writing of this visual novel, not normally my cup of tea but i'm keen to experience more of it.
- π Castle Crashers: replayed this on a whim cause i wanted to play and finish a short game. was a good old time.
- Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty: i enjoyed the story for the most part and the spectacle, but i got very frustrated at some of the bosses and gameplay.
- Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter (demo): i enjoyed what i played and i'm pretty sure this kicked off my interest in starting trails proper.
- π The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky: excellent game. i wrote separate posts about this series already.
- π€· Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots: this game was so-so grabbing my attention and i couldn't get pass the first boss cause my ps3 controller decided to go wack on me. i didn't want to pay for a $40 adapter so... for now it stays unfinished.
- PastelβParade: i enjoyed the demo and overall it was pretty fun, with its rhythm heaven-like vibes. some of the stages and timing were a bit rough though.
- π Trail of Stars: again like the last winter knight i was taken in by the writing and the ost is so beautiful and emotional.
- π Easy Delivery Co.: the vibes and gameplay of the demo drew me in (even though there was some eerie vibes), and it was a nice, chill game to play through.
- π€· Taka Taka: came across this free game by chance and it had an interesting rhythm gameplay. didn't fully grab my interesting though
- Hades 2: it's funny that i didn't find myself fully addicted to this game and maybe it's because i played bits of early access? i'm enjoying it but also just taking it slow?
- π The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC: falcom does it again and i already shared my thoughts on this game elsewhere too.
- Part Time UFO: i decided to buy this game from watching prozd's streams, it's cute, though a little challenging later on.
- Duck Detective: The Ghost of Glamping: another cute lil game with excellent voice acting as always.
- π Once Upon A KATAMARI: classic katamari vibes and a new set of catchy songs to enjoy too. was drawn into the game as it served as a distraction from my work stress.
- Unquiet Grey: unfortunately didn't enjoy this as much compared to trail of stars but still a good experience.
- The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 3rd: needed to see this game through after finishing SC. been taking my time with it, but i'm intrigued by kevin as a protagonist.
- Mario Kart World: for some reason the gameplay doesn't grab me as much as past mario kart games? maybe it's just my mood or i'm finally getting getting tired of them. however, the visuals and music are absolutely god tier, and i appreciate free roam to explore and chill.
- π Fire Emblem Engage: wanted to revisit this game since grabbing the dlc and watching newbie's playthrough. it's been a fun time using different characters and classes from my original playthrough.
- π Dear me, I was...: i knew i wanted the game cause of taisuke kanasaki's art and it was delightful. i still want to have hope for a hotel dusk remake.
- Soul of Sovereignty (chapter 3): started with juicy loic and ysme backstory and ended with me thinking NONONONO- at ysme's cruelty towards loic. but i also desire more.
- xx: xx
a decent set of games overall i suppose? once again i'll hold off on sharing games i'm looking forward to, even though i have a wishlist. i'll let time play out and see where it takes me.
